History

St. Luke’s Church was founded at the turn of the twentieth century, when Episcopal services were first held in Mineral Wells by the Reverend Edwin Wickens of Dallas. Early worship took place in homes and borrowed spaces, sustained by the devotion of a small but faithful congregation.In 1907, regular services, a Sunday school, and confirmations were established, and the parish took root on its present property. Originally known as the Church of the Good Shepherd, the parish later became St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. The present brick church was completed in 1930. Through faithful clergy and lay leadership, St. Luke’s continues its witness of worship and service in the community.
